Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply to Publiqa's services and engagements.
Last updated: January 2025
1. Agreement
By engaging Publiqa Journal Services (“Publiqa”, “we”, “us”) for any service, you (“the client”) agree to these Terms & Conditions. A service engagement begins when you receive and accept a written quote from us.
2. Services
Publiqa provides academic journal publishing services including OJS setup and hosting, ISSN registration support, Crossref DOI registration, journal indexing assistance, and journal branding. The exact scope of each engagement is defined in the written quote provided to the client before work begins.
3. Payment
- A deposit of 20% is due before work commences.
- The remaining 80% is due upon completion and delivery.
- Accepted payment methods: bank transfer, PayPal, credit/debit card.
- Third-party fees (e.g. Crossref membership, domain registration) are paid directly by the client to the relevant provider and are not included in Publiqa’s service fee unless explicitly stated in the quote.
4. Client responsibilities
The client agrees to:
- Provide accurate information required to complete the work
- Supply their own domain name for OJS hosting
- Review and approve deliverables within 7 days of submission
- Pay third-party fees (Crossref, ISSN centre, etc.) directly to those bodies
5. Timelines
Estimated timelines (e.g. 7–10 business days for a new journal launch) are provided in good faith and begin from the date the deposit is received and all required client information has been supplied. Publiqa is not liable for delays caused by third parties such as the ISSN centre or Crossref.
6. Indexing
Acceptance into indexing databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, DOAJ, etc.) is determined solely by those organisations. Publiqa prepares the strongest possible application but cannot guarantee acceptance.
7. Intellectual property
All deliverables (journal theme, logo, configured OJS installation) become the property of the client upon receipt of full payment. Publiqa retains no rights to use or reproduce client-specific materials.
8. Limitation of liability
Publiqa’s total liability to the client for any claim arising from a service engagement shall not exceed the amount paid by the client for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved by negotiation in the first instance; if unresolved, by mediation or the courts of the jurisdiction in which Publiqa is registered.
